We are celebrating 80 years!

Buying your first school backpack is a big event! As a parent, you want to be sure that your child gets a backpack with fantastic carrying comfort, useful features, one that is visible, durable, and that your child loves! For 80 years, we at Beckmann have taken this very seriously. We are so grateful for every school day we have been allowed to be part of!

1946

Olav Beckmann founds his company with the goal of producing high-quality school backpacks for children. He plans, designs, and sews the backpacks in his own living room.

1960s

The synthetic leather used for the school bag was manufactured in Germany. The bag itself could be used both with and without a trolley and was especially popular in the 1960s.

1970s

The blue school backpack was introduced in three sizes, tailored to different age groups. The tartan-patterned model became especially popular among teenagers - with spring steel in the back and a carrying frame for extra support. It was sold until the year 2000.

1980s

The leather backpack became a great success! Over the course of the decade, it was continuously improved, and in the years following its launch, around 10,000 backpacks were exported to the USA each year.

1990s

The primary school backpack with a carrying frame and a volume of 22 liters was introduced. It was produced in Kristiansand, Norway and was available in six different versions.

2000s

The product range expands. The collections are continuously developed, and the offering grows larger and more diverse year by year.
