All Street, Urban and City models have a dedicated laptop or tablet compartment.

Street Go, Street FLX, Street Light, City Max and Urban fit laptops or tablets up to 16 inches.

Street Bold, Urban Midi and City fit a 14-inch Chromebook.

City Light fits laptops or tablets up to 13 inches.

All our backpacks are made with water-repellent materials, but they are not fully waterproof. In heavy or prolonged rain, we recommend using a rain cover to protect the backpack and its contents.

Street FLX, Street Go and Street Light have a water-repellent coating on the main fabric. The seams and zips are not waterproof. A suitable rain cover can be purchased separately.

Urban, City and City Max have water-repellent fabric and an integrated rain cover in the bottom compartment.

City Light also has water-repellent fabric, and a rain cover must be purchased separately.

A laptop, books and work essentials can add up to a substantial daily load. A supportive backpack helps keep the load close to your body and makes it more comfortable to carry when you walk, cycle or move around throughout the day.

Street FLX, Street Bold, Urban, City and City Max have padded back panels and shoulder straps, an adjustable chest strap and anatomically shaped back support. The chest strap helps keep the shoulder straps in place.

Street FLX and Street Go also have removable hip belts, providing additional support for the load.

A good fit and proper adjustment are just as important as the features: use both shoulder straps, pack heavier items closest to your back and avoid carrying unnecessary weight.

The lighter Street Light and City Light models have different carrying systems, so choose according to how much you carry and how long you carry it.

A separate ventilated compartment for shoes or a towel makes packing easier to organise, with integrated mesh storage for extra items.

City Light – 20 litres: Travel light with this backpack.

Tuck away the shoulder straps to carry it as a handbag or bag, and use the wide zip opening to reach items at the bottom.

The backpacks can be used as carry-on luggage if they meet the requirements of your airline and ticket type. Capacity in litres alone does not determine whether a backpack is accepted as carry-on luggage. Check the external dimensions and total weight of the fully packed backpack, including any FLX expansion.

We recommend washing your backpack by hand with a mild liquid detergent. If you choose to use a washing machine, remove the rain cover, aluminium rib, decorative buttons, flashing light, and air cushion where applicable. Place the backpack in a pillowcase to prevent the straps from getting caught, and select a gentle cycle. Air-dry the backpack and do not tumble-dry it. Please note that damage caused by machine washing is not covered by the warranty.

Beckmann backpacks are primarily made from recycled polyester (rPET), made from used plastic bottles and certified according to the Global Recycled Standard (GRS). According to Textile Exchange, recycled polyester (rPET) can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 70% compared with virgin polyester.

However, our approach to sustainability goes beyond material choices. We believe the most sustainable backpack is one that lasts. That's why we focus on durability and functionality, creating products that can be used and loved for many years. To help extend the life of our backpacks even further, we also offer spare parts whenever possible.

We use certified materials and follow requirements for chemical safety and responsible production:

- Global Recycled Standard (GRS): Our rPET material is certified. This verifies its recycled content and sets requirements for traceability, chemicals, environmental practices and working conditions.

- OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100: Our textile materials are certified and tested for harmful substances.

- REACH and the POPs Regulation: We follow EU regulations that restrict the use of harmful chemicals in products. These are legal requirements, not certifications.

- EN 71-3: Products intended for preschool children and pupils in grades 1–3 are also tested according to this standard, which sets limits on the amounts of certain substances, including heavy metals, that materials can release.

- Fair Wear Foundation: Beckmann is a member and works to improve working conditions at its suppliers. This is a membership, not a certification of individual backpacks.
